As part of Harvard University, Harvard Medical School shares in the University’s collective commitment to sustainability initiatives and commitments to reduce our carbon and environmental impacts, while providing a safe and healthy campus for students and staff and supporting the daily operations of critical research. 
HMS Facilities is currently building a school-level Sustainability Action Plan for the next 5-years, building on Harvard University’s Sustainability Action Plan framework which was published in 2023.
The goal of this plan is to build upon existing sustainability initiatives at the school and set direct, tangible, achievable goals for the campus to further integrate sustainability into our day-to-day operations. By aiming to make sustainability a core part of our operational practices, we aspire to lead by example and inspire others to join HMS in addressing environmental quality and climate change.
